Mission and Vission

"Sustainable and Green Carbon, S&GC" exhibits super high performance and innovative function through precise structure, control, and new preparation methods. Today's cutting-edge carbon science and technology can contribute to the related industry and achieve a better life in the world. The goal of this laboratory is to build a top international research and education center on S&GC, and then contribute to the further development of Shinshu University.

The Sustainable and Green Carbons Institute was created in April 2022 as a collaboration between Shinshu University and RESONAC Co. to address the sustainable development goals established by the United Nations, using carbon nanomaterials.

Carbon nanomaterials can exhibit a wide range of structures with excellent chemical and physical properties. These structures can be 0D such as carbon quantum dots, 1D as carbon chains, multi-walled carbon nanotubes and carbon ribbons, 2D as graphene and graphene oxide, or 3D as in graphite, diamond, and amorphous carbon.

These outstanding materials can achieve a high impact on life improvement, fibers, membranes, green energy production and storage, sensors, and aid to preserve the environment. This laboratory will pave the way toward the green carbon century for the benefit of humanity.
